El lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus) es una especie de mamífero carnívoro de la familia Felidae, endémico de la Península Ibérica. Actualmente sólo existen dos poblaciones en Andalucía aisladas entre sí con un total de menos de 300 individuos, más otra en los Montes de Toledo de sólo unos quince individuos y por ello escasamente viable, lo que lo convierte en el felino más amenazado del mundo.
DESCRIPCIÓN
Es un felino de aspecto grácil, con patas largas y una cola corta con una borla negra en el extremo que suele mantener erguida batiéndola en momentos de peligro o excitación. Sus características orejas puntiagudas están terminadas en un pincel de pelos negros rígidos que favorece su camuflaje al descomponer la redonda silueta de su cabeza. También son características las patillas que cuelgan de sus mejillas.
HABITAT
El lince ibérico se encuentra en el bosque y matorral mediterráneo, en zonas muy restringidas de la península ibérica. En España en muy pocas áreas, bien conservadas y aisladas de la actividad humana, mientras que en Portugal parece que se ha extinguido. Este tipo de hábitat le proporciona refugio y pastos abiertos para cazar conejos, que supone el 90 % de su dieta.
